Chalkboard Wineglasses

Ever since my post on my love for all things wine related I have been dying to make chalkboard wine glasses. My inspiration came from this blog post that I found on Pinterest. So, last night, for my good friend Emily's birthday, I decided to get all the supplies and make a set together for part of her gift! So it ended up being an interactive DIY gift, doesn't that sound fun?! Well it was!

This is what we made:

This is how we made them:

Supplies:
Wineglasses with stems (the dollar store has a good selection)
Chalkboard paint (from a can)
Painters tape
Paintbrush

First, tape the wineglass stems to mark how far you want to paint up the stem...

Then, start painting. We had to do 3-4 coats of paint on each wineglass. We used a hairdryer to speed up the drying process so we could apply the coats faster.

Once all coats are dry, you can peel off the painters tape.

I allowed mine to dry for another hour or so and then I used a piece of chalk to prep the chalkboard.

Then, I poured a glass of wine!

If you try this yourself, make sure you remember to hand wash the wine glasses after use! I don't know how well the chalkboard paint would hold up in a dishwasher!

Autumn's Arrival with Southern Hospitality

I know we are all itching for cool weather so we can bundle up, bake yummy treats, watch football and hear the leaves crunch under our boots. So, to help us prepare, I asked my good friend from Southern Hospitality, Miss Jordan Streetman, to help us get pumped for the new season!
 Take it away Jordan!

I am getting so excited for my favorite season of the year, although I cannot believe the New Year is a mere 4 months away (it has flown by)! The weather has been delightfully cool to the point I had to resist wearing a pair of boots the other day. My willpower isn’t very strong when it comes to diving head first into this season, so we shall see how much longer it will last…

Until then, I will embrace pumpkin, spice and everything nice in the privacy of my home until it’s socially acceptable to do so in public. Here are a few of my favorite autumn inspired goodies, well within any savvy shopper’s budget.

OPI Swiss Collection, I’m Suzi and I’m a Chocoholic: This chocolate swatch has hardly left my hands the past few weeks. It matches with just about anything and I love the deep edgy hue.

Suave Shampoo and Conditioner, Rosemary & Mint: The most delightful scent for your locks, not to mention how soft you hair will feel after using it.

World Market, Pumpkin Spice Scones: I made these last year on “Pumpkin Day” and they were delicious (pat myself on the back).

Forever 21, Paisley Scarf: During fall and winter I swap my long necklaces for scarves almost every day. This color combination is perfection for fall and it’s currently in my online shopping cart.

Upper Canada, Gold Maple Sugar Bubble Bath: It features shea and cocoa butter. A decadent smell and soft skin? Yes, PLEASE!

Yankee Candle, Kitchen Spice: This scent is from their newest collection, but I would recommend a trip to your local Home Goods for autumn scented Yankee Candles at half the price!

Beautyhabit, Pumpkin Soap: I seriously drool over anything pumpkin, even a bar of soap.  Too bad Ralphie from A Christmas Story didn’t have his mouth washed out with this opposed to dial.

What are you looking forward to this fall?

For the Love of Wine :)

I am a wine lover....I am a big fan of sweet wines and have more recently tried others that I seemed to have acquired a taste for. Being a wine drinker has given me a love for wine corks and other wine accessories. I have a few things in our home already and have some new ideas that I want to try out!

We have this flat melted wine bottle that I bought at a craft fair in San Fransisco last year.

We also have a little apothecary jar that I filled
with wine corks that sits on our kitchen counter...

Recently, I made a little trivet/coaster out of wine corks that I cut in half and hot glued to a square sheet of cork.

There are a few other things I would love to try as well.....

I would love to copy this chalkboard wine set from Pier1.

Do you have a love for wine and fun wine accessories?! I would love to see them!

Praying for Tripp Roth

I'm writing tonight to ask for prayer for a special little boy that I have recently heard about and it has been weighing on my heart.

Tripp Roth, a precious 2 year old (who LOVES to play the drums!), suffers from Epidermolysis Bullosa. EB is a rare genetic skin disease that causes the skin to be so fragile that the slightest friction can cause severe blistering - inside and outside the body. Children who have this are often referred to as "butterfly children" since they are so delicate. Tripp is teaching & touching so many people- about strength, hope and faith. His mom, Courtney, is also a true example of unconditional love.

My cousin, Rachel, has decided to find a way to give to Tripp and his family. She is selling t-shirts on Etsy. 100% of profits from the sale of these t-shirts will be going to Tripp.

T-shirts for Tripp - SIZE XLARGE

T-shirts are 100% preshrunk cotton - limited quanities in S,M,L,XL. Check out Rachel's Etsy shop if you would like to order one!

PLEASE take a moment to catch up on their amazing story here: www.randycourtneytripproth.blogspot.com
